Gas Seep at Steering Column Support Bracket

I decided to switch to a dash mount column bracket. I took the column loose from the tank bracket and now there is a small seepage (not a drip) at the top of the tank bracket. The car is painted/finished/running/driving so I want to avoid removing the gas tank. Has anyone heard of EXO-COAT? I'm wondering if 'painting' it around the edges of the mounting bracket would take care of the problem. EXO-COAT
