...give many warning signs that the poster did not mention experiencing. The engine would sizzle, smoke, knock, lose power and gradually slow down until the crank locks up. How do I know this? This actually happened to me in 2003 when the oil pump shaft stripped on the highway and by the time I realized what had happened, all these signs exhibited themselves. I barely got into town off the highway before the engine seized. Kiss that engine good-bye!
Unless some mighty alarming accompanying sights, sounds and smells occurred before the poster's engine was shut off, it'd highly unlikely that the engine has seized. The simplest and most obvious causes are usually responsible. In this case - although a starter solenoid and relay could complicate matters - the problem is almost certainly a jammed starter drive. This is a very common occurrence in Model A's this old after thousands and thousands of starts, especially if the spark had not been retarded properly and many kick-backs have occurred.
