Strange light switch

Howdy boys, I am working on a '30 Murray Fordor the apparently has never had bright lights. The switch body doesn't have a relief for the switch to be turned to the "Bright" position. I replaced it with one that did, and now I have bright lights. Anybody ever seen this before? Thanks!
