You took the words right out of my mouth,
Finance cement is great to seal this kind of leak. It's a gray (or black) color paste, you rub it into the clamps and tighten up, smooth it off let it dry overnight before you start the car,and you have a perfect seal. It is very simple to remove the next time you need to open it up again. You can get it at any fireplace store or Homedepot/ Lowes. Comes in a small tub. Looks like real thick toothpaste. There is no better fix.
