I've changed several engines and have yet to remove the transmission. I know of no "inaccessible" bolts but the two on the bottom of the bell housing, between the wish bone, have to worked in as the engine is mated to the transmission. As far as i know, the pilot bearing that Henry used was a ball type and that's what I use. Oil-lite works, Chevy used it for years and years but for me I'd go with the ball and unless that throw-out is new I'd replace it; it's a lot easier now that later.
