Dick, Appreciate the opinion, here's mine. While doing heat reduction tests comparing the "Kool Feet" muffler shield that I manufacture vs the "other" shield on the market, I had the opportunity to test the difference between the Aries muffler and the "other" muffler using an infrared heat measuring device. The results which I reported on the Aries web site shows that the Aries was 82 degrees cooler at the front seam than the "other" muffler.

As you state, the rear of the engine is where all the inherent problems with heat reveal themselves. In later tests I ran the infrared gun up the exhaust pipe on cars with and without the Aries muffler and the difference in temperature at the exhaust pipe and the exhaust flange was even more startling. With or without the pans, the extra heat generated by the "other" muffler is substantial. The close proximity of that overly hot exhaust system to the fuel filter, line and carburetor must be taken into account when we discuss vapor lock. I believe that most of the overheating and vapor lock cases relate to overheating created by the non stock and restrictive "other" muffler. On that fact alone the only muffler that Henry would have given his stamp to would have been the Aries as it is built to Ford specs. Let me say here again that this is my opinion and I have no monetary interest in the Aries product. Leslie
