towed Studebakers from El Paso to Minneapolis several times with no damage, but it's safer and better to trailer, so I finally built a nice light trailer for cars up to about 4,000 lbs.

As mentioned the center bearing between the input and output shafts of the tranny gets no oil when the engine isn't running. Probably no damage to the bearing on tows up to a couple hundred miles, but I'd rather trailer or drive the car.
