everything was fine till you connected your amp gauge and attached the dash. then sparks when you hooked up battery,

remove dash pannel let hang connect check for arcs (burn marks near amp gauge) mine turned and loosened when attaching dash. maybe the armord cable to the dist from the popout switch is shorting in the termanal box. did you reinstall the rubber insulator on the cable in the termanal box. is the box shorting out on the firewall? try hooking up the battery with the dash off and see if it arcs? I bet you short is in the dash area.
