I would first drain the cooling system. If I could remove the stud without removing the head I would apply some anti seize compound to the coarse threads that enter the block and retorque I would loosen the other head nuts about one eighth turn and retorque one at a time. I don't run the cable clamps on any of my cars. I like to be able to remove the dist. without removing the head nut. It is always a chance that when this nut is removed, the gasket will allow coolant to leake into the oil pan and continue to leak after the nut is replaced. If you are able to remove the stud without removing the head it may be best to replace it with a new stud. Remember that any time that you have to loosen or tighten the nuts on the old studs you run the risk of having a stud wringing off in the block. Good luck.
