Hello, I have a '30 AA that I finished restoring a couple years ago. The original radiator was heavily damaged so I got a new AA radiator from the Brassworks. I think I have everything set well with fuel mixture and timing. The trucks runs well, but when I crawl up a long hill, it pushes a slow, steady stream of coolant out the overflow. I can see the narrow, unbroken water trail in my rear-view mirror. By the time the truck reaches the top of the hill, it begins to steam, but not violently. It takes a few hills to get the water down sufficiently enough to have a clam bake. This Brassworks radiator only has a three-row core (yes, for the AA), but the tubes are narrow side-to-side and very deep front to back. It has a lot of fins per inch, 8 or 10. I'm thinking these tubes aren't providing the flow rate I need. Anyone have similar experience? I'm ready to get an original four-row repaired or recored. Suggestions? I'm gonna try running some Pine-Sol through to clean things out, but I have my doubts. I figure that if these thing hauled loads back in the day, mine should be able to run cool when it is empty-- even if there's a little crud in the cooling system. Brian Burkert |
