I've had float a motor kit on my late '31 pickup since 1975. Aluminum ones (guess they all are) from JC Whitney - think I paid $19.95 for them. They're great. Don't seem to be subject to that cracking like the originals. As far as vibration goes, can't say I have experience much difference though - maybe a little better.
