Sandy, If you will familurize yourself with the sound of the engine at different speeds while in second gear, you can soon be able to match that rpm for the speed you are traveling. Its kind of like a tachometer in your head. When you learn it, you can also double clutch and downshift to low gear although you hardly ever need to.
